Celebrate Juneteenth! Juneteenth is about more than a dayโ it honors the end of slavery, but also remembers the fight for freedom that never stopped
Juneteenth, which means โJune Nineteenth,โ is a special day that celebrates the freedom of all enslaved people in the United States. On June 19, 1865, federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to make sure everyone was freed. This happened two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation, which declared that all enslaved people were free. On June 17, 2021, it became an official federal holiday, which means people all across the country can celebrate this important event. #WeAreEBR
