Meeting Opening

Meeting called to order at 5:00 PM by Board President Michael Gaudet.

Invocation was led by School Board Vice-President Tramelle Howard and the Pledge of Allegiance by Cadet Staff Sergeant Fallyn Melton of Woodlawn High School and accompanied by Colonel Eric Keys, Senior Army Instructor.

 

Roll Call

Board Members present: Mark Bellue, Dadrius Lanus, Tramelle Howard, Dawn Collins, Evelyn Ware-Jackson, Jill Dyason, Michael Gaudet, and Connie Bernard. David Tatman was absent.

a) First Tee Program Grant in the amount of $5,000.00 per school to provide training for PE coaches, First Tee golf equipment and curriculum guide with lesson plans for six elementary schools. b) FACE Foundation Grant Agreement in the amount of $1,500.00 to provide ELL parent engagement. c) Cox Charities Innovation in Education Grant in the amount of $8,993.00 to provide direct service classroom projects for five teachers.

 

Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire

Approval of the Louisiana Compliance Questionnaire as required for the 2018-2019 financial audit of the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

 

Memorandum of Affiliation

Approval of a Memorandum of Affiliation between the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board Exceptional Student Services Department and Nicholls State University Department of Psychology, Counseling and Family Studies Specialist in School Psychology Program to establish a school psychology internship.

 

Professional Services Contracts - IDEA

Approval of the professional services contract between the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and NOMI Support Services, LLC in the amount of $40,000.00 to provide support services to students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

 

Professional Services Contracts-Title I

Approval of the following professional services contracts between the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and the following: a) Academic Resources, LLC in the amount of $23,000.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. b) Academic Support Services, LLC in the amount of $21,000.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. c) Concrete to Abstract Tutorial, LLC in the amount of $22,500.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. d) Milan, LLC in the amount of $22,500.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. e) Virtually Yours, LLC in the amount of $22,500.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. f) Moving Forward N' Education, LLC in the amount of $21,000.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. g) Vaughn Tutoring Services, LLC in the amount of $22,500.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. h) ESL Expert Helping Hands, LLC in the amount of $17,500.00 to provide tutoring services for Title I students. i) City Year, Inc. in the amount of $358,400.00 for a data sharing agreement to access necessary data and support to four schools.

 

Professional Services Contracts - School Redesign Grant

Approval of the following professional services contracts between the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and the following: a) Open Up Resources in the amount of $14,000.00 to provide professional development for elementary administrators. b) Open Up Resources in the amount of $101,000.00 to provide professional development for elementary schools and district leaders. c) The University of Texas at Austin in the amount of $32,000.00 to provide Math Content Leader training. d) The University of Texas at Austin on behalf of the Charles A. Dana Center in the amount of $30,500.00 to provide Math Content Leader training. e) National Institute for Excellence in Teaching in the amount of $56,000.00 to provide professional development for Content Leaders, ESS, ESL, Teachers, and Specialists.

 

Dual Enrollment MOU-Louisiana State University

Approval of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and Louisiana State University (LSU) to provide dual enrollment courses at four high schools (Northeast, Woodlawn, McKinley & Lee High Schools).

 

2019-2020 Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook and Discipline Policy

Approval of the Student Rights & Responsibilities Handbook and Discipline Policy for the 2019-2020 school year for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System with noted changes.

 

Policy Update

Approval of revisions to the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board policy JGCB - Immunizations.

 

Technology Agreement

Approval of an agreement between the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board and CDW-G in the amount of $171,600.00 for Lightspeed Relay and Classroom Software to provide Chromebook filtering and classroom management.

Renaming of Polk Elementary

Acceptance of the renaming of Polk Elementary School to Eva Legard Learning Center.

 

Motion by Evelyn Ware-Jackson, second by Tramelle Howard.

A friendly amendment was offered by Mr. Bellue to “Eva Legard Center”; the friendly amendment was not accepted by the maker and the second.
