2-Special Meeting-Superintendent Selection Minutes

A. Meeting Opening

The Meeting was called to order at 6:08 PM by School Board President Carla Powell Lewis.

Members present were Mark Bellue, Dadrius Lanus, Carla Powell Lewis, Shashonnie Steward, Cliff Lewis, Nathan Rust, Michael Gaudet, Emily Soulé, and Patrick Martin.

B. Items for Consideration

The Board Vice President requested the items be taken out of order with no objection from the Board.

1. Superintendent of Schools Appointment

Motion to appoint LaMont Cole as Superintendent of Schools and to authorize Board Leadership and legal counsel to negotiate an employment contract to present to the Board at a Special Meeting on August 1, 2024.

Motion by Patrick Martin, second by Dadrius Lanus.

Motion to appoint LaMont Cole as Superintendent of Schools and to authorize Board Leadership, past presidents, and legal counsel to negotiate an employment contract to present to the Board at a Special Meeting on August 1, 2024.

Motion by Shashonnie Steward, second by Michael Gaudet.

The substitute motion was withdrawn.

Motion to appoint LaMont Cole as Superintendent of Schools and to authorize Board Leadership and legal counsel to negotiate an employment contract to present to the Board at a Special Meeting on August 1, 2024.

Final Resolution: Motion Carries

Yea: Bellue, Lanus, Powell Lewis, Steward, Lewis, Rust, Gaudet, Soulé, Martin

2. Deputy Superintendent Appointment

Motion to select and appoint Adam Smith as the Deputy Superintendent and to authorize Board Leadership and legal counsel to negotiate an employment contract.

Motion by Dadrius Lanus, second by Shashonnie Steward.

Friendly amendment to the motion to select and appoint Adam Smith as the Deputy Superintendent and to authorize Board Leadership, Superintendent, and legal counsel to negotiate an employment contract.

Final Resolution: Motion Carries

Yea: Bellue, Lanus, Powell Lewis, Steward, Lewis, Michael Gaudet, Soulé, Martin

Nay: Rust
