SPECIAL USE OF SCHOOL BUSES
It shall be the policy of the East Baton Rouge Parish School Board to permit the use of school buses for student trips or excursions to enhance instructional activities. The use of buses for such trips shall be strictly governed by regulations contained in the Board's Risk Management Plan. All arrangements for any trip or excursion shall be made in accordance with these regulations.
Any school may use buses for athletic or activity trips. The Board will be reimbursed by the school the expense equal to the cost of operation of the buses for the particular event.
Bus operators shall be compensated in accordance with the schedule adopted by the Board for field trips.
PROCEDURES FOR USE OF SCHOOL BUSES
All trips made away from
the schools shall be evaluated by the appropriate director. This
applies to all trips involving school children irrespective of the
type transportation used or the hours or days on which said trips
are scheduled. Authorization for any trip, after evaluation, will
be approved by the Director of Transportation. Requests
for such trips must be submitted at least twenty (20) days prior to
the date that the transportation is desired.
Bus operators will be designated
for driving field trips by the principal of that school on an alphabetical
rotating basis.
Requests for school buses
by non-public schools (at their expense) shall be evaluated and acted
upon by the Director of Transportation. Requests must be submitted
at least twenty (20) days prior to the date transportation is desired.
Requests for use of school buses by outside agencies (at their expense) for transportation of elementary and secondary school children shall be evaluated and acted upon by the Deputy Superintendent of Operations and Business Management. Requests must be submitted at least twenty (20) days prior to the date transportation is desired.
