The East Baton Rouge Parish School System provides physical and mental health services to students throughout the district. The health services we provide include qualified and dedicated nurses through our partnership with Our Lady of the Lake Hospital; health educators and curriculum; preventive care such as vision and hearing screens; for students with chronic health conditions, school nurses and other health care providers play a large role in the daily management of their conditions. School health services staff also are responsible for coordinating care by communicating with the student’s family and health care providers so that they can stay healthy and ready to learn. We also provide mental health services through our committed school counselors, social workers, and our ICARE specialists. These mental health professionals handle everyday life problems including grief, abuse, neglect, substance abuse, and more. Our trained staff is devoted to treating the whole child and creating a healthy and supportive learning environment.
