Scotlandville Pre-Engineering Magnet Academy offers strong preparation in math and science designed to develop students for future careers in engineering. Through exciting project-based, hands-on experiences and problem solving techniques; students learn to think critically and gain a foundation in engineering concepts. Committed to “Cultivating the Art of Engineering Excellence,” students receive real world experiences through 21st century courses such as audio engineering, Project Lead the Way, green agriculture design, and marine robotics.

Competing regionally and nationally with other STEAM schools, Scotlandville students have placed first in the Future City Regional Competition for two consecutive years and nationally in Washington D.C.; placed third at the Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicle Competition in Dauphin Island, Alabama; received the Most Creative Seaperch Award for two years; and received the Project Award from FIRST LEGO League. Scotlandville’s robotics teacher received the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce Excellent Teacher Award. One of only 38 schools nationally, Scotlandville Pre-Engineering is a nationally certified magnet school and was honored to receive the Magnet School of Distinction Award for two consecutive years. School pride also extends to ancillary programs in which dancers received honors including the Apollo Theatre for Showcased Talent recognition, Outstanding Performance at Disney World, Universal Dance Association first and second place honors, New Orleans Pelicans Dance Competition honors, and second and third place honors at the Pancake Festival. The choir received first and second place honors at that same festival. Students have participated in the Greater Baton Rouge Honor Band and performed in the DeBose Festival for the Arts. A student was a recipient of the Ernest Gaines Award for Literary Excellence. The list goes on and on at this impressive middle school.
