EBR held its grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting for Park Elementary on August 20.  School board members Mike Gaudet, Tramelle Howard and Dadrius Lanus; Superintendent Warren Drake, Principal Stephanie Tate, local elected officials and others cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Bonnie Chelette, an Instructional Technology Facilitator in the Technology Integration Department, has been chosen as part of the selective Google for Education Certified Innovator Program. This is the first time an employee from EBRPSS has been selected for the program. The Google for Education Certified Innovator Program recognizes and supports top educators around the globe who are using technology to solve meaningful challenges in education.

Toney Riggins, better known as ‘Mr. Warehouse’ is the Warehouse Specialist for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. As an Aramark employee, he makes sure that the items in the warehouse are always kept in order. No matter the problem Mr. Toney can fix it! Words cannot express how much he means to everyone that comes into contact with him. Each conversation is always pleasant and you will always leave reassured knowing you will receive whatever you came to the warehouse for on time. The warehouse stores equipment for EBRPSS schools as well as the equipment for the Child Nutrition Program for East Baton Rouge Parish. In just three short years Valencia Wilson, the head coach of Lee Magnet High School’s Girls Basketball team, took a non-existent program and turned it into a championship program. It is the first girls basketball title for Lee Magnet High and the second time Wilson earned the coveted Coach of the Year award. A statewide panel of sportswriters selected Wilson after she led the Patriots to a 34-2 record and the Division II select title. With no seniors on the championship team and a culture of hard work and high expectations established, Wilson will look to repeat history in more



Belaire High's very own Juvon Pollard was selected as a quarter-finalist for the 2020 GRAMMY Museum's Music Educator Award! Over 3,000 nominations were sent in and only 189 music teachers were selected for the annual honor. The East Baton Rouge Parish School System would like to congratulate Mr. Pollard on this tremendous accomplishment.Read more
