Student Hosts “Social Media Remake” School Initiative Presentation at McKinley Senior High School Featuring Apple Associates

On April 26, 2017 a “Social Media Remake” school initiative presentation took place at McKinley Senior High School. Under the leadership of Senior School Counselor, Chi Joseph-Franklin, local Apple Store Associates partnered with the program hosted by Southern University School Counseling Practicum student Tanasha Dangerfield.  The associates introduced the students to new innovative ways to incorporate the use of their smartphones/devices by learning about the common unused applications on their devices, to include Pages, Keynote and Numbers to mention a few.  The students engaged in dialogue with the presenting associates who offered demonstrations of who the use the devices applications in learning more effective ways to research information.  Some of the detailed lessons included: how to have the smart devices read to them and how to develop professional presentations for educational purposes.

In the end, the students were presented a wealth of information allowing the students to have an opportunity to become increase the academic successfulness with use of their smart devices in our technology driven world. This event has serves as a partnership opportunity in the future for the school.  Lunch was provided by Buffalo Wild Wings (LSU Campus) and doors prizes were given to participants in attendance.  McKinley High School is under the leadership of Mr. Herman Brister.
