Bernard Terrace Welcomes Olympian Danielle Scott-Arruda at Monday Morning Harambee

Feb. 3 2017

Bernard Terrace’s theme for the year is “Let’s Have a Gold Medal Year’.  Who better to have provide the students with an inspirational talk during their Monday Morning Harambee than an actual Olympian?  Danielle Racquel Scott-Arruda   gave an inspirational talk to the students at Bernard Terrace Elementary on Monday, January 30, 2017. Bernard Terrace’s cheerleaders led the student body in a warm welcome to Mrs. Scott-Arruda.  Danielle Scott-Arruda is an American Brazilian indoor volleyball player. She has played at the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and the 2012 Summer Olympics, breaking a U.S. female volleyball athlete record for Olympic appearances. She’s currently playing professionally for Brazilian league Banana Boat/Praia Clube. Scott-Arruda carried the flag for her native country at the opening ceremony of the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Scott-Arruda was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and attended Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, where she was an All-State performer in volleyball and basketball.  Our student body enjoyed having such a motivating speaker for Harambee.
