Greenbrier Elementary School unveils its new Imagination Playground™ on Tuesday, February 7th, 2017. The innovative play equipment was donated by The CarMax Foundation (@CarMax) and national non-profit KaBOOM! (@kaboom). Together, they will make it easier for kids in Baton Rouge to get the childhood they deserve filled with balanced and active play.
Imagination Playground in a Cart ™ features a collection of oversized blue foam parts that allows children to build and re-build play structures with their imaginations. It helps develop healthy bodies, resilient and creative minds and social and emotional well-being. Architect David Rockwell designed Imagination Playground to encourage child-directed, unstructured free play.
Play is central to a child’s ability to grow into a productive adult. It can transform children from sedentary, bored and solitary to physically, mentally and socially active.
Greeenbrier Elementary students have experienced a challenging school year after being relocated to the Broadmoor Middle School campus after the flood in August. Providing these students with an outlet for creative play will allow them a chance to incorporate activity and expression.
This is the 20th Imagination Playground that The CarMax Foundation has donated in conjunction with KaBOOM!. The CarMax Foundation supports KaBOOM! in ensuring that all kids get the balanced and active play they need to thrive.
