After an extensive assessment of EBRPSS school facilities, and due to continued and prolonged power outages at school sites and our community, the decision has been made to continue school closures for all EBRPSS schools until Tuesday September 7, 2021.z
The decision to continue school closures came after much careful consideration as we remain focused on the safety and wellbeing of our employees and students.
In the aftermath of Hurricane Ida, all East Baton Rouge Parish School System facilities and schools will be closed through Wednesday, September 1, 2021, for the safety of our students, families, and staff.
The EBRPSS Emergency Response Team will continue to meet daily to determine next steps.
As a reminder, students will not be penalized for their inability to participate in any independent learning assignments given due to this emergency school closure and no virtual teaching schedules will be followed.
Out of an abundance of caution all East Baton Rouge Parish School System facilities and schools will be closed Monday, August 30th for the safety of our students, families and staff. School site closures will begin on Saturday Evening. Educators have been asked to provide “review and enrichment” assignments to students via their online classroom platforms or through take-home packets so they may engage in independent learning at this time. Students will not be penalized for their inability to participate. Because no one can predict the impact of wind and rain on power, electricity, and connectivity, no virtual teaching schedules will be followed, and students will not be penalized for missed work.
