Founded in 1955, we are proud of the programs and excellence that Buchanan Elementary has nurtured in Old South Baton Rouge and throughout the city. We pride ourselves on being a traditional, gifted and talented (art, music, theater) school with a rich history of providing an accelerated and rigorous curriculum. We nurture the social, emotional and academic needs of our diverse population in a positive environment. Buchanan offers strings, music, PE and art classes, along with clubs such as Junior Beta. Talented art, music and theater services are available for qualified students.
