The I CARE Advisory Council was originated 40 years ago, prior to the creation of the I CARE Program, by the founding fathers of I CARE. The current council, which is comprised of 40+ community leaders who serve to keep our program connected to the community, includes 2 student members, in addition to a few emeritus members. The term for a student council member is 1 year. The full council meets 5 times each year, usually in September, November, January, March and May. Meetings are usually held the 2nd Wednesday of each month except when that is a holiday, such as Veterans Day in November. Meetings are held at Christa McAuliffe Library.
Council members are asked to attend the council meetings which begin at 11:30am. for networking. Formal meetings begin at 12 p.m. and always end no later than 12:30 p.m.
A Junior Advisory Council of high school students meets periodically to assist I CARE staff in developing programs relevant to their peers.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is advising families that school bus transportation may experience delays during the Friday afternoon commute home because of weather and road conditions across the parish. Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
changing weather conditions.
District officials said student safety remains the top priority as drivers continue routes throughout the parish. The district appreciates the understanding and cooperation of families and the community during the weather event.
