The I CARE Advisory Council was originated 40 years ago, prior to the creation of the I CARE Program, by the founding fathers of I CARE. The current council, which is comprised of 40+ community leaders who serve to keep our program connected to the community, includes 2 student members, in addition to a few emeritus members. The term for a student council member is 1 year. The full council meets 5 times each year, usually in August, November, January, March and May. Meetings are usually held the 2nd Monday of each month except when that is a holiday, such as Veterans Day in November. Most meetings are held at Our Lady of Mercy Activity Center at the intersection of Government and Marquis, when that center is available.
Council members are asked to attend the council meetings which begin at 5:00 p.m. for networking. Formal meetings begin at 5:30 p.m. and always end no later than 6:30 p.m.
A Junior Advisory Council of high school students meets periodically to assist I CARE staff in developing programs relevant to their peers.
