Our Mission

The Mission of the I CARE Program is to provide prevention education in the areas of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs, and violence, to all students and families within the Baton Rouge schools and community.

Our Goal

The goal of I CARE is to equip Pre-K through 12th grade students and families in participating EBR public and non-public schools with the knowledge and skills to make healthy lifestyle choices.

From the Director

First, I want to say Thank you for 40 years of school and community inclusion.  If it were not for our families and the friends of I CARE , the program would cease being the thriving force in our community as we continue the fight for prevention.

As the Director, we have collaboratively assessed our needs as a community and in schools within East Baton Rouge Parish. As we assess, we evolve and strategically plan around these needs. We are all in this prevention fight.  As a program, we truly understand the meaning of teamwork. We support all public, private, and parochial schools!  As such, I CARE maintains a strong partnership with all schools. And for that, we are grateful!

We care about prevention. We care about our community. And, we care about making a difference everyday.  We have 20 staff members that work on the scenes and behind the scenes to advocate for students.  We are constantly developing programs around Social Emotional Learning and solidifying these skills in young people so as to enhance their wellness and well-being.  We teach skills and educate our young people so that they can make sound decisions throughout life and potentially give back to our communities.

I know this has been a challenging year for many people, but we are resilient and I believe we will get through it together.  We are here to help.  We are here to teach. We are here to support.  We are here to advocate. It is my hope that we continue to work together and fight for prevention.  Help us to empower students to be the best they can be and work together to advocate for our young people.

Sincerely,
Erin Pourciau-Bradford

21st Century Vision

The East Baton Rouge School System students and staff will be educated on effective social-emotional coping strategies and trauma-informed approaches in prevention education. I CARE will advocate for students, community and staff to have safe and drug free schools, while also empowering schools and families by providing resources, technology tools, and training in evidence-based prevention education.
