Magnet Program

About the Program

Woodlawn High School proudly offers an accelerated and rigorous Academic Magnet component to prepare students for college (career) related paths. Magnet schools are built on the foundation of the five pillars of education:

  1. High-Quality Instruction
  2. Academic Excellence
  3. Family and Communication Partnerships
  4. Diversity
  5. Innovative Curriculum

Our Magnet program has a focused theme of ACCELERATED ACADEMICS through Advanced Placement(AP) courses and Dual Enrollment(DE) courses. Magnet schools are typically more “hands on- minds on” and use an approach to learning that is inquiry or performance/project based. We use state, district, or Common Core standards in all subject areas, however, all are taught within the overall theme of preparing students for college(career) related paths. Our average class is 25 students per class.

To schedule a private tour of our campus, email Ms. Kyla Watson at kadams@ebrschools.org.

Stay Up to Date with the Latest Weather Updates

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is advising families that school bus transportation may experience delays during the Friday afternoon commute home because of weather and road conditions across the parish. Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
changing weather conditions.

District officials said student safety remains the top priority as drivers continue routes throughout the parish. The district appreciates the understanding and cooperation of families and the community during the weather event.
