Our historical school, which is nestled in the heart of MidCity Baton Rouge, is named after John R. Dufrocq, Baton Rouge’s First Mayor. Dufrocq was established in 1923 and has been educating students for 100 years. Our vision is that all students succeed academically and are empowered and prepared for global success. We do this in a variety of ways through our traditional and magnet programs. We take pride in being one of two schools in our district that offers a Montessori Curriculum and the only school offering MicroSociety. MicroSociety is our school’s overarching theme that unites all of our academic programs with real-life learning experiences. Our dedicated community partnerships and support from our families are our strength. We are also proud to be a certified magnet school and a 2022 Magnet School of Excellence. The Dufrocq School is where “The Pursuit of Learning Begins.”
Hello, I am Dr. Davis, the proud principal of The Dufrocq School! I am committed to creating a nurturing and innovative learning environment for all students. The Dufrocq School aims to strengthen its academic programs, expand extracurricular activities, and cultivate a community where every student feels valued and empowered. I believe in the importance of collaboration among teachers, parents, and students to achieve the school’s goals and ensure that each child reaches their full potential. As we embark on this exciting new year, I look forward to building strong relationships with our community and making a lasting impact on the lives of the students at The Dufrocq School. As we say every morning, Have a Great Day in the Crawfish Bayou Where the Pursuit of Learning Begins!
The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is advising families that school bus transportation may experience delays during the Friday afternoon commute home because of weather and road conditions across the parish. Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
changing weather conditions.
District officials said student safety remains the top priority as drivers continue routes throughout the parish. The district appreciates the understanding and cooperation of families and the community during the weather event.
