Mayfair Laboratory honored as Blue Ribbons School in Washington, D.C.

Mayfair Laboratory School goes to Washington. Mayfair was one of the 356 schools in the nation formally recognized as a U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbons School during an awards ceremony Nov. 7-8 in Washington, D.C. This prestigious recognition highlights the commitment, hard work and excellence in education exhibited daily by Mayfair students and staff. In September, Principal Kyle Fontenette and the Mayfair staff held a big celebration at the school with Mayor Sharon Weston Broome, Superintendent LaMont Cole, and all the students dressed up in new Blue Ribbon shirts.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is advising families that school bus transportation may experience delays during the Friday afternoon commute home because of weather and road conditions across the parish. Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
changing weather conditions.

District officials said student safety remains the top priority as drivers continue routes throughout the parish. The district appreciates the understanding and cooperation of families and the community during the weather event.
