EBR Schools to Host ‘Roar into EBR’ Pre-K Enrollment Event at BR Zoo

Feel the Roar!

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is excited to announce its “Roar Into EBR” Pre-K Enrollment Event from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, at BREC’s Baton Rouge Zoo.

The event gives families the opportunity to complete their child’s pre-K enrollment while enjoying a fun day at the zoo. Families who present the required enrollment documents at the zoo entrance at 3601 Thomas Road in Baker will receive free admission for the entire family.

“We want to remove barriers and make enrolling in EBR Schools as easy and welcoming as possible,” said Von Cathlene P. Iyengar, administrative director of Early Childhood. “This event gives families the opportunity to complete enrollment, connect with district staff, and enjoy a great day together before the new school year begins.”

Families should bring the following enrollment documents:

  • Child’s birth certificate.
  • Parent or guardian photo ID.
  • Current immunization (shot) record.
  • Two proofs of residence.
  • Two proofs of income.
  • Child’s most recent report card (if applicable).
  • Withdrawal letter from previous school (if applicable).

Families who complete enrollment will also receive complimentary food and train ride tickets, enjoy face painting, inflatables, light refreshments and be entered into prize drawings.

During the event, district registration specialists and school leaders will be available to assist families with enrollment, answer questions about school choice options, connect them with family support services and provide early access to bus route information.
