Baton Rouge High, Liberty High receive high state, national rankings

Baton Rouge Magnet High School has once again earned national recognition, ranking as the No. 1 high school in the region, No. 6 in the state and No. 209 nationally, according to the latest annual rankings from U.S. News & World Report for 2026-27.

Liberty Magnet also earned a spot among Louisiana’s top public high schools, ranking No. 12 in the state and No. 1,320 nationally.

Baton Rouge High is one of only nine public schools in the state to be among the top 1,000 across the nation. U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 schools. 

The report says, Baton Rouge High “students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams. The AP® participation rate at Baton Rouge Magnet High School is 88%, and the 12th-grade enrollment is 381 students. Additionally, 32% of students in the school are economically disadvantaged. Baton Rouge Magnet High School is 1 of 19 high schools in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools.”

Of Liberty, the report says, “Students have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement® coursework and exams. The AP® participation rate at Liberty High School is 97%, and the 12th grade enrollment is 283 students. Additionally, 56% of students in the school are economically disadvantaged. Liberty High School is 1 of 19 high schools in  East Baton Rouge Parish Schools.

The U.S. News & World Report’s Best High Schools rankings are those whose students demonstrated outstanding outcomes above expectations in math, reading and science state assessments, earned qualifying scores on an array of college-level exams, and graduated in high proportions.

U.S. News ranked nearly 18,000 public high schools out of more than 27,000 reviewed.

Among other criteria, these public high schools had a 12th-grade enrollment of 15 students or greater.

The latest rankings add to the growing list of national and state accolades earned by EBR Schools’ magnet programs, highlighting the academic opportunities and outcomes available to students across the district.

Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
