BATON ROUGE, La. — As part of its 40th anniversary celebration, Northdale Superintendent’s Academy will host The Double E Guarantee: Educator by Day, Entrepreneur by Night from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, at the school, 4451 Fairfields Ave.

The event will showcase EBR Schools employees who own or operate businesses and give students an opportunity to learn about entrepreneurship firsthand. Teachers, administrators, support staff and other EBRPSS employees are invited to participate and share their entrepreneurial journeys with students.

Many school system employees wear more than one professional hat. Beyond educating and supporting students, they are business owners, innovators, creators and entrepreneurs who contribute to the economic vitality of the community.

Whether operating a catering business, beauty salon, consulting firm, retail establishment, transportation company or creative enterprise, participants will have opportunities to introduce their businesses, display products or services, share their experiences and inspire students to explore entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic independence and personal success.

Northdale Magnet Academy was established in 1986 through a partnership between the Greater Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce and the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Business, community and educational leaders joined forces to address the growing dropout problem. Northdale became the state’s first diploma-bound alternative high school.

The school is in its first year at its Fairfields Avenue location.

To participate, interested business owners can email cbanks1@ebrschools.org.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is advising families that school bus transportation may experience delays during the Friday afternoon commute home because of weather and road conditions across the parish. Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
changing weather conditions.

District officials said student safety remains the top priority as drivers continue routes throughout the parish. The district appreciates the understanding and cooperation of families and the community during the weather event.
