The East Baton Rouge Parish School System’s Workforce Development, in collaboration with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber, will hold the 12th-Grade Internship Pilot Program Match Day at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. The event will be held at Baton Rouge Community College’s Magnolia Theatre and Performing Arts Pavillion (Building 7 on the map attached).
EBRPSS Superintendent Sito Narcisse and business partners will be in attendance.
Match Day will be an interactive event between business owners, stakeholders, and students. Of the 300 high school seniors who applied for the pilot internship, 147 were selected. The students will be paired with their prospective employers within their field of study.
The ceremony is the first step to getting the Internship Pilot Program up to speed for the 2022-2023 school year. High school seniors can get tangible work experience on a professional career level by exploring internships from our five pathways which include technology; construction and manufacturing; medical and pre-med; transportation and logistics; and liberal arts and management. The goal is to ensure students can obtain soft skills, interviewing skills, and accountability training.
The partnership between the EBRPSS and BRAC opens doors of opportunities for our students and the workforce sector. The mission is to keep our students connected with access to fulfilling careers in the community.
On Sept. 19, students will begin their first day of work with their employer and earn $15 per hour for a total of 155 hours.
