What a success! Twenty graduates were recognized during the first cohort 1 Substitute Success Academy program last week at the Essen Centre. “It was a lifesaver; I learned so much,” one graduate remarked. Presented by the EBR Schools Office of Human Resources, the five-day, intensive training helped prepare substitutes for success in the classroom.
Participants received hands-on training in classroom management, instructional strategies and nonviolent crisis intervention, along with guidance from district specialists and experienced educators.
The academy ensures that substitutes enter classrooms ready to teach, support students, and uphold EBR’s standard of excellence.

Students across the East Baton Rouge Parish School System joined the international community in recognizing World Mental Health Day on Friday. The day was filled with events and activities dedicated to raising awareness, fostering understanding and encouraging support for mental health. Many wore green, the color that symbolizes hope, renewal and growth.

Today, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples` Day and honor the rich cultures and contributions of Louisiana`s indigenous communities. There are four federally recognized tribes in the state: the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians, the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, and the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, along with 11 state-recognized tribes.
