Today, we celebrate Indigenous Peoples' Day and honor the rich cultures and contributions of Louisiana's indigenous communities. There are four federally recognized tribes in the state: the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians, the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana, the Coushatta Tribe of Louisiana, and the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana, along with 11 state-recognized tribes.
