📚️ Brittany Melancon is in her second year as the dean of students at Delmont Pre-K Center. She has been with EBR for about 10 years, also serving as a paraprofessional, second-grade teacher and literacy coach.
A graduate of Baton Rouge Magnet High and Southern University with three degrees, Melancon is passionate about giving back to North Baton Rouge, where she grew up. With educators in her family, including her mother and grandmother, Melancon said working with pre-K students allows her to help build their foundation for success.
Jay Luzaran is a 5th grade math and science teacher at Cedarcrest-Southmoor Elementary! With five years at Cedarcrest and 39 years in education overall, including 18 with EBR, he believes dedication and consistency help lead students to high performance. He loves giving to his students, showing them love, teaching them respect and being a good example to everyone he encounters.

The East Baton Rouge Parish School System is advising families that school bus transportation may experience delays during the Friday afternoon commute home because of weather and road conditions across the parish. Transportation staff members are working to safely transport students while navigating possible heavy traffic, flooded areas and impacted roadways caused by
changing weather conditions.
District officials said student safety remains the top priority as drivers continue routes throughout the parish. The district appreciates the understanding and cooperation of families and the community during the weather event.
