Meeting their tutors face-to-face brought some exciting moments for students at Capitol Elementary on Friday. Eight college tutors from across the country visited campus to meet the students theyβve been working with online this semester through the Teach For America Ignite Fellowship program. These tutors represented eight states, including Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New York and Massachusetts. ππ

π― Games, teamwork and other extracurricular activities brought together students from across the district on Wednesday for the Youth Leadership Summit at the Professional Development Center.
Hosted by the Exceptional Student Services Department, the summit promoted inclusivity inside and outside the classroom and helped unite students with disabilities and their nondisabled peers. I CARE student ambassadors also helped facilitate the dayβs activities. The project was funded through a grant awarded by Unified Sports through Special Olympics. π
