Out of an abundance of caution due to the winter weather, possible icy road conditions and power outages expected on Monday, East Baton Rouge Parish Schools will move to an asynchronous learning day on Monday, January 26.
Students will not report to school in person. Teachers will provide assignments and learning activities for students to complete at home, and families should monitor school and teacher communications for specific instructions.
We will continue to closely monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend and remain in communication with local meteorologists. Any additional updates will be shared as soon as they are available.

Edna Davis is a Pre-K teacher at Delmont Pre-K Center! With 15 years at Delmont and an amazing 49 years in education, including 45 with EBR, she loves watching children grow and blossom, often seeing a night and day difference. Our team is in constant communication with local meteorologists and emergency partners as we evaluate conditions and determine whether we can safely hold school on Monday. This includes monitoring temperatures, road conditions, and the potential impact on buses, campuses, and facilities.

We will provide a decision regarding school operations and any possible closures early Sunday afternoon, once the most up-to-date and reliable forecast information is available.

Shannon Roussell is a 1st grade teacher at Brownfields Elementary! With six years at Brownfields and 28 years in education, all with EBR, she treasures reconnecting with former students who share updates about their lives, careers, and successes. She takes great pride in knowing she played a role in their journeys and believes it is important to help students achieve their dreams by giving them the space to explore new ideas and create their own visions for the future.
It was an incredible Media Arts Day! Middle and high school media teams spent time at Southern University last Friday, working through the media production process. Under the guidance of Southern teachers and industry professionals, students engaged in hands-on work in film, photography, podcasting, and audio production. As part of their Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service activities, members of the local Delta Sigma Theta Sorority collected hygiene and wellness items on Monday for the Broadmoor High School Health Care Center.
Community members donated essentials such as soap, deodorant, socks, T-shirts, and other personal care items to support Broadmoor’s on-campus center, affectionately known as the “Broadmoor Walgreens.”
