4 Baton Rouge Magnet students move to second round of National Merit Scholarship Program

Four Baton Rouge Magnet High School seniors — Rohan Ninad Joshi, Abhinav Pathak, Emily Lien Phan, Tejasvi Tyagi — were announced on May 7 as winners in the second round of the prestigious 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.

Pathak will use the scholarship for Princeton University, Phan will use the scholarship for LSU, Tyagi will use the scholarship for Stanford University and Joshi will use the scholarship for Purdue University.

The Baton Rouge High students were awarded $2,500 scholarships and are part of a larger group of 42 winners from Louisiana so far. Additional winners will be announced in June and July. About 6,900 students will be awarded approximately $26 million in National Merit Scholarships this year.
