Empowering students to organize prevention programs in their schools and communities is the goal of the annual I CARE Youth Leadership Conference. This year`s theme was "Healthy Relationships" with more than 400 students attending the high school session on Wednesday and the middle school session on Thursday. "It`s having healthy relationships as a protective factor for young people so they don`t use drugs, they don`t use alcohol, they have good relationships and don`t get involved in violence," said I CARE Program Director Erin Pourciau-Bradford. The special guest was motivational speaker and performance expert Eddie Slowikowski, of Chicago. In addition to the EBR Schools, other schools represented included Madison Prep, Southern Lab, Mentorship Academy and Parkview Baptist. #WeAreEBR #ebrschools

The student-led tours closed out EBR Schools Magnet Showcase Week activities at the school. Tison Washington, the school`s Student of the Year, led one of the tour groups, along with other finalists Leah Norman, Parker Brooks and Reyna Danduran. Noi Mills, the magnet site coordinator, oversaw the event. Magnet Programs will start accepting applications on Sept. 30 for the 2025-26 school year.
