📚💡 EBR School Board Vice President Cliff Lewis visited EBR Readiness Elementary during a town hall and awards ceremony on Friday to encourage students to work hard, believe in themselves and prepare for the future.
Lewis shared how he struggled in school as a child before becoming an NFL player, educator, leader and School Board member. He urged students to ask for help, stay focused and never let labels define who they are.
🗣️ “There ain’t no free lunch,” Lewis said. “You’ve got to work hard — and in many cases, harder than the guy or the girl sitting next to you.”

What an exciting STEM night at Westdale! We gasped at experiments that went "boom!", explored swamp life, and got hands-on with Liberty Magnet`s Robotics team. We even learned how teamwork and engineering create race cars with LSU TigerRacing. A night full of curiosity,

NFL Hall of Famer and former Houston Oilers linebacker Robert Brazile brought inspiration and real talk to students during the "Heart of a Hall of Fame" event at Glen Oaks High. 🏈✨
Known as "Dr. Doom" during his playing days with the Oilers from 1975 to 1984, Brazile engaged student-athletes from Glen Oaks, Istrouma and McKinley high schools. Students had the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions and hear about discipline, perseverance, character, and believing in one’s potential.

Boys` and girls` middle school playoff basketball begins today! All games will take place at the schools starting at 2:40 PM. Winners of today`s game will move on to the quarterfinals on Thursday.
All schools and offices will reopen tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, and classes and work schedules will proceed as usual.
Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we prioritized the safety of our students and staff. We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow!
Jamie Quincy is an 8th grade ELA teacher at Scotlandville Pre-Engineering Magnet Academy! In her first year at SPEMA and with 16 years in education, all with EBR, she loves working with students and seeing those moments when everything clicks. She enjoys being an inspiration, helping students recognize their opportunities, and preparing them for high school and the real world while showing them that someone outside of their home truly cares.
