Four Baton Rouge Magnet High School seniors — Rohan Ninad Joshi, Abhinav Pathak, Emily Lien Phan, Tejasvi Tyagi — were announced Wednesday as winners in the second round of the prestigious 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Pathak will use the scholarship for Princeton University, Phan will use the scholarship for LSU, Tyagi will use the scholarship for Stanford University and Joshi will use the scholarship for Purdue University. The Baton Rouge High students were awarded $2,500 scholarships and are part of a larger group of 42 winners from Louisiana so far. Additional winners will be announced in June and July. About 6,900 students will be awarded approximately $26 million in National Merit Scholarships this year.

The Mental Health Services Department supported the Alternative Programs Department`s annual Individual-TEA this year at the Baton Rouge Zoo. A grant from the Joe Burrow Foundation helped to increase mental health awareness among our youth and reduce the stigma.
