The fair provided valuable opportunities for district employees to engage in biometric health screenings and participate in informative sessions covering topics such as self-defense, financial literacy, healthy eating, physical fitness and mindfulness. Such initiatives are crucial for fostering a healthier and more informed community.

Thanks to Entergy for its generous donation to the Big Buddy Program in support of the Mayor’s Youth Workforce Experience, a partnership between EBR Schools, Employ BR, Baton Rouge Community College, Baton Rouge Area Chamber, Big Buddy and the Office of the Mayor-President. The Youth Workforce Experience allows local high school scholars to gain valuable exposure to professional work environments, build transferable employability skills and earn industry-based credentials. Participants who meet the required on-the-job training and classroom instruction hours outlined by the Louisiana Department of Education will earn one Carnegie unit on their high school transcripts. Together, we are creating pathways for youth to thrive academically, professionally, and personally — all while investing in Baton Rouge’s future workforce.

Congratulations to Patricia Ann Montgomery Stewart, an executive secretary for the EBR Schools, who recently celebrated her high school graduation 50 years later with the Glen Oaks Magnet High School Class of 2025. Stewart, who was unable to graduate with her original class in 1975 due to personal reasons, seized the opportunity to cross the stage and finally achieve what her heart had long desired.
Her journey is a testament to perseverance, resilience and the belief that it’s never too late to accomplish your goals. Walking across the stage was more than just receiving a diploma — it was a moment of triumph, of faith fulfilled and a legacy of inspiration for all generations to come. Stewart has proven that dreams deferred are not dreams denied. She finished strong — boldly, beautifully and unapologetically.
