A parent expressed that a new laptop is bringing joy to her daughter as an early Christmas present. On Wednesday, 100 “high-achieving” students at Claiborne Elementary School received their own personal laptops on Wednesday, courtesy of the James M. Cox Foundation and Cox Communications.
“She’s been really good in school, so she kind of feels as though the school recognized her for her work,”‘ parent Kyra Dunbar said of her third-grader. “I’m really happy for her. She’s excited. She’s been talking about it for the last two weeks.”
Special thanks to Cox; Executive Director Jennifer Lightfoot and the Foundation for East Baton Rouge School System; EBR Schools Superintendent LaMont Cole; Deputy Superintendent Adam Smith; and Claiborne Principal Courtney Turner and her staff.
