The Office of Accountability, Assessment, and Evaluation seeks to assist schools and district staff through the following:
In 2024, East Baton Rouge Parish School System successfully engaged in the Cognia Accreditation Engagement Review which extended District Accreditation through 2030.
The district was recognized for its leaders and staff striving to cultivate and sustain a culture of respect, fairness, equity, and inclusion that is free from bias while maintaining learners’ well-being as a central focus of all academic and non-academic decisions and actions.

Cognia Accreditation Standards
Cognia External Review Team will interview East Baton Rouge Parish School System remotely through Zoom every six years. A multi-member team will evaluate the system’s adherence to the Cognia Performance Standards for K-12 School Systems.

STANDARD 29: Understanding learners’ needs and interests drives the design, delivery, application, and evaluation of professional learning.
STANDARD 30: Learners’ progress is measured through a balanced system that includes assessment both for learning and of learning.
East Baton Rouge Parish School System utilizes an assessment program for all students who access the general curriculum. Metrics related to district benchmark assessment programs are tracked through the district’s KPI scorecard in alignment with the school system’s strategic plan. Test content is aligned to the standards adopted by the Louisiana Department of Education and taught in the East Baton Rouge Parish curriculum. This data is used to inform and evaluate goals for student learning targets as well as the East Baton Rouge School System’s Strategic Plan and other district and school level improvement plans.

In accordance with the policies found in the local pupil progression plan as well as BESE Policy Bulletin 1566, the Accountability office supports the implementation of during the school year and summer remediation programs at the elementary school, middle school and high school levels.
