The Exceptional Student Services (ESS) Department is excited to share a video developed through a five-year partnership between the East Baton Rouge Parish School System and the PROGRESS Center (Promoting Rigorous Outcomes and Growth by Redesigning Educational Services for Students with Disabilities), a federally funded center.
This partnership is dedicated to building a team of leaders and teachers committed to creating an educational ecosystem that delivers high-quality instruction in both special and general education for students with disabilities.
On August 6, 2024, representatives from the ESS Department and The PROGRESS Center participated in a panel discussion hosted by the U.S. Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in Arlington, Virginia.
The video showcases how EBR’s general and special education leaders collaborated to develop school schedules that prioritize general instructional time alongside specially designed instruction. It highlights the strides in redefining inclusive education within the East Baton Rouge Parish School District. We continue empowering educators and students to exceed expectations through collaboration, strategic planning, and innovative programs.
Additionally, the video features local impact data from the ESS Department and emphasizes the role of inclusive practices in fostering academic progress and a sense of belonging for students with disabilities.
We encourage you to watch this video and learn more about the transformative efforts happening in our district.
