We Are EBR

“Working for EBR Schools at Istrouma High School has been one of the greatest blessings of my life. Every day, I got to use the game I love to help shape young men into leaders—on and off the field. Being a coach is so much more than football; it's about giving kids the confidence, discipline, skills and support they need to succeed in life. The impact educators make goes far beyond Friday night lights, and that’s what makes the work so meaningful.”

"I am a proud product of the East Baton Rouge Parish public school system (a 1996 graduate of Baton Rouge High), and the foundation laid for me growing up in public schools has been instrumental in shaping both my personal and professional journey. Baton Rouge High instilled in me a strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and a deep commitment to excellence. The rigorous academic environment and diverse community challenged me to think critically, communicate effectively, and lead with integrity."

I’ve walked the halls of EBR Schools as a student, and now I proudly serve behind the scenes, helping tell our story. My journey began at BRCVPA, continued through Sherwood Middle, and truly came into focus at McKinley Senior High School. The school didn’t just educate me—it shaped me. I was surrounded by a powerful sense of pride, tradition, and resilience. The energy was contagious and I knew: I had to come back. That dream became reality when I joined the Communications Team at EBR Schools as a graphic designer. It was a full-circle moment, serving the same system that poured so much into me. Even if I’m behind a camera or working on a video, I know I’m contributing to something bigger: lifting up our public schools, telling real stories, and showing the brilliance inside every building. I’ve seen firsthand the strength and flexibility of our educators and students. I’ve reconnected with former teachers—not just as mentors, but now as collaborators. I’ve found myself growing alongside leaders who value creativity and embrace bold new ideas. Whether I’m stepping into a classroom or walking into our office, I’m reminded daily why I do this work. I’m honored to help shape the narrative of a school system that continues to give so much to so many—including me. I wouldn’t want it any other way.

"We are an EBR School family at Mayfair Lab. We are huge fans of everything Mayfair - from the community of parents to the incredible teachers (two to a class)... not to mention the lunch bunch vibes under the shade of ancient oaks. The principal, Mr. Fontenette, is literally an angel of a human who clearly lives for the students and teachers - he's everywhere all at once yet remembers everyone's name and can make you feel seen and cared for. The classrooms are beautifully eclectic, showcasing the vibrant creativity of the students - not sterile and devoid of life like so many academy-style schools. My daughter flourishes there socially and academically. She does something I never did as a kid - she asks when she can get back to school during summer break because she loves it so much. She's become an avid reader, a curious explorer, and a social butterfly. What more could we ask for from our school?"

"As a proud graduate of Glen Oaks High School, I can say without hesitation that the foundation of my success, and that of so many others, was built in the classrooms of East Baton Rouge Parish Public Schools. The lessons I learned, both academic and personal, shaped who I am today. Our public schools are more than just places to study; they are places of opportunity, and pillars of our community."
