School Accountability

Grow. Achieve. Thrive.

The Louisiana Department of Education has introduced a new accountability system that will take effect in the 2025-2026 school year.

WHY?

Improve student academic achievement while providing an accurate assessment of performance.

The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is updating the way school performance scores are measured. This new scoring system raises the bar and ensures that grades now reflect how well schools help students learn, advance and prepare for life after graduation. While the new scoring system may temporarily cause schools’ performance scores to drop, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System remains committed to growing every student to achieve greatness and thrive beyond test scores.

Grow.

Schools should be measured by the number of students growing in math and English, with special attention paid to the lowest achieving students.

Achieve.

Schools should be measured by the number of students who are proficient in math, English, science, and social studies.

Thrive.

High schools should be measured on the number of students graduating on time, showing readiness on a nationally recognized exam, and prepared to accelerate.

WHAT'S DIFFERENT?

The new system changes how schools are graded, using a 100 points scale instead of 150 points.

Simple & Transparent: Uses a 100-point scale that evenly measures foundational elements.

High Expectations: Encourages students to grow, achieve proficiency and thrive after graduation.

Career & College Readiness: Places greater emphasis on preparing students for success beyond high school.

Measuring Scores

Scores are measured by the assessment of students based on the three new metrics: Grow, Achieve and Thrive.

Elementary and Middle Schools

High Schools

Grow: Measures students growing in math and English, with special attention paid to the lowest-achieving students.

Achieve: Measures students who are proficient in math, English, science and social studies.

Thrive: Measures how many high school students graduate on time, demonstrate readiness on a nationally recognized exam and are prepared to accelerate.
