π Learning is being ignited and re-ignited at Capitol Elementary.
On Tuesday, the school hosted a launch event for its Teach For America Ignite Fellowship, now in its second year of providing virtual high-dosage tutoring for Capitol students.
District leaders, donors, BESE members, LSU School of Education representatives, and elected officials joined Teach For America to observe third graders in action during tutoring sessions.
βWeβre just excited to have it again this year,β said proud Capitol Principal Karla Johnson. βOnce you have the buy-in from the students, you canβt do anything but excel, and thatβs what weβre seeing here at Capitol.β
Through its Ignite program, Teach For America aims to double literacy rates for Louisiana third graders by 2030 in the communities it serves. This year, more than 300 tutors will partner with 525 students across area parishes.

π EBR Schools is thrilled to celebrate Terrica Jamison, the administrative director of technology, for being featured in EdTech Magazine. Her visionary leadership is transforming digital access for students across the district. She is leading the charge to close the digital divide and ensure every student has the tools they need to succeed.
π± Thanks to a $2 million grant from T Mobile, Jamison and the Information Technology team provided connected Chromebooks to high school students, giving them reliable internet access at home and empowering learning beyond the classroom.
π» Beyond that, the team deployed over 11,000 devices districtwide, supporting students at every grade level with access to digital learning tools.
