The house parties at Riveroaks Elementary are wild, loud β and educational. Each Friday, third- to fifth-grade students gather for house meetings where they set weekly goals, check academic progress, celebrate achievements, and build community.
Students are randomly placed into one of four houses β Reveur, Amistad, Isibindi, and Altruismo β each with its own theme, history, mascot, motto, and culture. The house system, inspired by the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, strengthens teamwork, collaboration, responsibility, leadership and confidence.

Capitol High students shared their voices last week during a student forum with Superintendent LaMont Cole and EBR Schools leadership.
The listening session gave students a safe and open space to share their concerns and thoughts about their school experience.
ποΈ Student forums are held quarterly at high schools across the district β with the next one set for Jan. 22 at Belaire High.

Meeting their tutors face-to-face brought some exciting moments for students at Capitol Elementary on Friday. Eight college tutors from across the country visited campus to meet the students theyβve been working with online this semester through the Teach For America Ignite Fellowship program. These tutors represented eight states, including Louisiana, Maryland, Minnesota, New York and Massachusetts. ππ
