The mission of the Section 504 Department is to ensure students with disabilities under the American with Disabilities Act have equal access to educational opportunities, identify students with characteristics of Dyslexia, and advocate for non-discrimination practices. The Department monitors the compliance of 504 plans and supports school level 504 coordinators, school staff, students, and parents with 504 development, implementation, dyslexia screenings, and discipline policies.
The Department of School Counseling is committed to supporting school counselors and other school personnel in the development, facilitation, and implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program. This program is designed to address the academic, college and career readiness, and social-emotional needs of all students.
Our work is carried out in close collaboration with the Dual Enrollment Program and the Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Program, ensuring that services are aligned and integrated to promote student success across multiple domains.
School counseling services are delivered through a tiered approach, providing universal access to all students, along with targeted small group and individualized interventions as necessary.
The mission of the Department of School Counseling is to equip school counselors with the tools and guidance needed to help all students develop the essential skills, knowledge, and mindset required for success in school, the workforce, and life.
Our vision is to provide comprehensive support to school counselors through professional development, advisement, and access to high quality resources. By fostering strong collaboration across intra-departmental initiatives-particularly with Dual Enrollment and SEL-we strive to ensure that every student is positioned for lifelong success.
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a continuous developmental process through which young people and adults acquire and strengthen essential skills in self-awareness, self-management, and social awareness. It emphasizes building healthy relationships, making responsible decisions, and developing empathy. SEL supports students in managing their emotions, understanding others’ perspectives, and setting and achieving meaningful goals.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, multi-tiered framework designed to support the behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of K–12 students. When implemented effectively, PBIS enhances students’ social-emotional competence, academic performance, and contributes to a more positive and inclusive school climate. It also promotes teacher well-being. Ultimately, PBIS helps create learning environments that are positive, predictable, equitable, and safe—where all students and staff can thrive.
