Employee Spotlight | Felicia Dotson
Dotson is a K-2 ESS teacher. She has been at Greenbrier for 11 years. This is her first year in the ESS role, and she says the transition has been smooth. She believes itโs important to help students become productive citizens when they grow up. Dotson loves building relationships with students and seeing them have that aha moment. Seeing former students thriving and flourishing keeps her going.

Salute to Cadet Maj. Zamiria Miller, of Belaire High School, for leading the Pledge of Allegiance to open Thursday`s School Board meeting. Zamiria was introduced by Belaire senior Army instructor Lt. Col. Dana Boyd-Donald (retired). Zamiria is a four-year member of the districtโs largest JROTC program, where she serves as battalion commander. At Belaire, she has been an active and dedicated student leader. participating in the Honor Guard, Color Guard, archery team, and also competing on the schoolโs volleyball team. Upon graduation, she plans to join the U.S. Marine Corps and pursue a degree in nursing.

Each of these remarkable students completed the same rigorous Student of the Year process used by the Louisiana Department of Education. After schools across the district nominated their top candidates, a district committee selected those who best exemplify academic excellence, leadership and outstanding character.
Charter school winners were: Jace Williams, Inspire Charter Academy (elementary) and Avery Harrell. Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy (middle).

๐โจ Gifts rolled in this week through the Adopt an Elf program. Hundreds of generous community members stepped up to "adopt" a student in need, selected gifts from their wish list and dropped them off at the Broadmoor Elementary collection site.
